while i can’t seem to get j on for one of my shows, he did sit down with business week recently to talk about zune (and more.) the story is part of a larger business week cover story (12/4) on microsoft.you'll have to read the article to find out why i made this post in all lower case.
Funky, all lowercase today huh? Perhaps we are a wee bit tired?
What happened to my comment? :( I had the first one :) Oh well -- Ya, I guess I will have to pick up Business Week as well. It shouldn't be hard to miss with J's head all over the cover. Too bad he isnt wering his ring of light earings.
so major, how much did you get paid to crossadvertise zune and j allard on your blog?
horay for broken shift key!
huh. so MS really did think about buying out nintendo for a while.
here's hoping they can fix the zune though. I have one, and while I like the hardware, the software sucks.
Oh, I just read the article, perhaps you were making a reference to the way j types his notes?
'He even blazes through e-mail, jotting down notes all in lower case: "shift key slows you down," he writes.'
Interesting, I really want a Zune, but I Just spent my money on a 60 gb iPod video :(
The shift key slows you down?!
Could you bank the seconds you've saved not using shift to get us an update on backwards compatability (even just targetting a new release this year? spring? etc)
Or cover some of the XNA community.
It'd be also nifty if you had some secrets to tell us about an API for XBL so we could build cooler web parts than the ones on live spaces (not that they're not cool) ... I'd just like to be able to get the details I want without screen scraping :)
I really miss seeing J at community events for Xbox.
he has a shiney head
i want a Zune too but not avaliable in Canada....amost other MS things (360-vod!)
"Joanne Bradford
MSN’s chief media officer is pushing into the ad sales business and leading an effort to let advertisers target users by gender or Zip Code. Can she extend that to Xbox and Internet TV?"
I hope not. I got enough ads on the dashboard as it is. I don't want more.
oh. and another thing. I think it's kinda funny how J got the good picture in the slideshow while all those the other execs got pictures that resemble my drivers license pic.
Amen to the clutter of ads in the dash. As a Gold member we should have the option to disable them.
I'd also like to get a Zune, but my computer actually got downgraded trying to download Service Pack 2. Therefore, I'm getting a 30G video iPod for x-mas instead. I know other stories like this as well. Microsoft will lose a lot of customers because of it.
As for those pics... ROFL! My god, they must of made him go on a diet for E3. I could never imagine him doing that PGR3 thing looking the way he did before.
the shift key does slow you down.
I think your shift key is smashed. tehee
i kinda dig the adds. For example: Seeing Captain Kirk in an add was kinda sweet!
Speaking of Star Trek, any work Major on the HD versions coming out. The last post I saw you mentioned that there were a few problems, any star date on this content?
Second Q: Any comment on when the USB HDD feature will be enacted. This is a weaknesses, and needs to be addressed. The TV Shows dowloaded will sky rocket, at least from me. I am not a fan of delete and redownload, from a bandwidth perspective neither should you guys. Sony has this feature (USB HDD downloads) it is time to take that advantage away from them. And make some fans happy in the process, oh and futher increase the number of sales you guys make for you and your partners :-D
Thank you,
The shift key makes you look intelligent.
not to state the obvious, but how is copying Apple with the Zune "the next big thing?" only thing that is going to save the zune (and what saved the xbox through it's first cycle) is the money and marketing a huge company like microsoft can provide, anyone else would be dead in a year. although i agree with the shift key thingy.
Agreed about the Dashboard ads. I'm a paid gold subscriber, I should not have to deal with them. The Dashboard is definitely cluttered.
As for the article, I have a ton of respect for J and what Microsoft is trying to do, but some things just don't sit right with me. While I do think that Xbox 360 is the right way to go in terms of guidelines for the company, I believe that products such as Zune and Vista are absolutely not. Microsoft is seen as the creaky old man of the industry, and Xbox 360 is honestly the only "modern," sleek, cool thing that these guys have. Microsoft needs to do a complete refresh if they want any relevance today.
I love my zune! all music you can dl for $15 you can beat that with a stick!
Wow...this convinced me to buy the Zune...for some reason I trust J Allard. I'm probably just giving in to the marketing, but hey, I like the feeling of this comfort zone.
Congradulations MS, you've got someone who believes in your vision and unifying everything...a lifetime customer.
How about just getting Free music.. from other sources <_< >_> not that I do that.
Good to know that j's not dead! He's probably laying low for a while to escape the Kotaku stalkers that he has.
I will have to get bussinessweek to read it.
