Xbox Live's Major Nelson

Xbox LIVE security

As you can imagine, we have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to modded consoles connecting to LIVE.

We're very serious about this, and if we detect you have a modded Xbox then you will not be able to connect to Xbox Live. If you see this screen and get Status Code: Z: 8015 - 190D…that means your console has been banned.

We'll continue to enforce this rule to ensure the integrity of the service and protect our partners and users.

To the members of our community who play by the rules, thanks and we’ll see you on LIVE.

Welcome back and it's good to see MS finally do something about this, though this will be the most harrowing episode in xbox live's history.

I have a feeling thousands of refurbished boxes might have been banned for being modded by the FORMER owners, and killing 360's that were barely working in the first place (due to fail sooner or later, modded or not) is a tad overkill.

You should have just downgraded the gamertags to silver, or at least let the modders unmod their consoles (which would have been a permanent fix AND would make them still be your paying consumers).

Now they lose their console and you lose their potential custom.

No, screw that.  It's not a harsh enough punishment to deter future modders.  Banning the console from Live is the best way.  Absolutely.

This is _fantastic_ news! :) cheating was one of the reason's I gave up on the multiplayer side of Halo2, and would be the one reason for my not picking up Halo3.
