sweet im looking forward to burning rubber in Grip Shift you just made my day (now it this day can just end sooner then i can play the new maps on Halo 3 and download some Videos off the Canadian Video Marketplace right at midnight :D :D :D
Yikes
Arkadian Warriors looks pretty fun, but you would think there would be 1-3 players in co-op since there are 3 warriors to choose from?
Whats with all these programming school projects?
I really miss the retro games.
The only thing I am looking forward to is Street Fighter In HD.
Get more retro games! Final Fight with online co-op would be nice for starters.
Gripshift? What a tantalizingly informative name...it must be mine!
Arkadian Warriors looks VERY interesting. Live Arcade needs more games like this. Reminds me of Untold Legends from what I read.
Is this based off a series of books, cartoons or something... or an original IP?
Arkadian Warriors looks pretty interesting ... I may have to check this one out.
They look pretty fun...I'll probably get the demo for Arkadian first, but will definitely be buying GripShift!
Arkadian Warriors might be good. I've seen the videos and it "looks" great.....but I just worry about how deep could it be for a xbla game. *crosses figners*
Nice one, Gripshift looks cool, i think i'll wait for N+ though (hope its only 400 btw)
I can't wait for The Incredible Machine! I hope it comes soon.
Gripshift looks just like XNA racer with some new cars.
Is that all it takes to get on Live arcade nowadays?
Oh yeah I was waiting for warriors cant wait :-D
Can't wait to play Warriors!!!
These all look pretty good - can't wait to try the demos.
Why the trend for all games to be 800 points? Kinda tired of the nickle and diming and gouging =/
i was going to play EXIT this Wednesday (after paying for the FULL game some months ago) but i guess not, since we've still not been given the FULL GAME WE PAID FOR! Any chance we can have what we paid for Major? or will you maintain your deathly silence on the latest Microsoft rip-off?
I've been really looking forward to Arkadian Warriors. I've always thought XBLA would be the perfect venue for a simple, pick-up-and-play dungeon crawler. Looks good.
Gripshift looks really awesome too, and it's already gotten some impressive reviews on the PSP and PS3. Is there any information on whether or not this XBLA version has the map editor from the PSP? I'm guessing no since there's no mention of it.
is it just me or does it seem that 800 points for all of these original arcade titles is too much. some i would say are worth it such as that new undertow but rarely is there a gem in this ever growing pile of arcade titles. 800 points for screwjumper? maybe i'm wrong.
Anon 21: While I completely agree, 800 points is too much for ME PERSONALLY for Screwjumper, IMO Screwjumper wasn't worth 1 point - but different games for different people. I love Lumines and I have 6 or 8 other XBLA titles, but I try all of them.
Now, for other games on XBLA, is 800 points too much? If this is a game you are only going to play one time, it is not necessary to spend any points, just get the demo, play it. Hated it? Delete it. Now, if it is a game you like, is 800 points / $10 (USA$) too much? How much time do you plan to spend playing it? The "average" single player boxed game (these days) is going for $60 and provides about 12-20 hours of single player game play (if you never re-play the game, and I rarely do) and most of you are more than happy to spend this. So, lets discount for digital delivery and round down the time, and call it $40/10 hours. That is $4 an hour for gameplay, so lets say you only get 2.5 hours of gameplay, it is now cheaper than the discounted boxed game. Every minute more you play is that much better a deal.
Now compare to going to the movies, at the movie theater assuming the movie is 90 minutes long and you paid $10 (which means a. your movies are cheaper than mine, b. you aren't taking your wife/spouse/etc with you, and c. you didn't get soda or popcorn) - that is $6.67 an hour, so movies are more expensive than XBLA games if you play the XBLA game for just two hours.
So, if you plan to play for less than two or three hours: just don't buy it, nothing is written that you need to buy every game. I buy the ones I know I will play. You are getting what is PROBABLY 5 - 10 hours of enjoyment (or a lot more? I have played Lumines a LOT more than 10 hours) for $10. If you think $10 is high, imagine how you would have felt if they put it on a disc and it was $20 or $30 (which is probably pretty accurate).
When great original games come to XBLA, I think 800 is reasonable. People spent lots of time and effort making these games and I hope it continues. $10 is really not that steep for a good, original game. Support the indie game development community! Now, is $10 reasonable for a simple port of a 1980's arcade game? In my personal opinion, no - it is not worth to (but some of you out there will it for the nostalgia). Vote with your dollars, if you think $10 is too much, don't buy it... but think about what you are saying is too expensive: compare it with other things in your life that you blindly spend $10 on, are you going to get more pleasure with this? If you won't, I contend you shouldn't be buying it in the first place.
i cant express this enough... we want monopoly
wow 800 points each? no thanks.
Screwjumper was dump, but the majority of the 800 pointers are well worth the money
Arkadian Warriors looks like a lot of fun, more along the lines of a regular title, not just a mini game or retro games. I defiantly think that XBLA should have more original IPs, retro games are fun but most have been rehashed so many times already.
why haven't you made an official announcement about Canadian Video Marketplace for today?...it goes live in less than 3 hours! Way to show the love outside the US...this is a big deal...I would have thought you would have a post about it.
