They won't fix DRM and they want us to pay $10.00 for this?  I don't think so.

To those questioning the cost - This Chessmaster series on PC has run from $20-40 for each of its past iterations.

I was looking forward to this but 800 points is a joke. I can get the original Xbox's chessmaster (with extensive audio tutorials, et cetera, and online play) for less! ... and I DID! brand new too.

el-cid but you own chessmaster for the oc when you buy it. with the drm you only own it till your xbox breaks(Which it will). It's a sad state of affairs especially when i have 20 arcade games to just five disc based games.

The Xbox original Chessmaster is not backward compatible, so good luck with that.  800 MP is not unreasonable.  You would pay around $8-$10 for a poor cell phone Chess game with bad AI and no multiplayer.  Heck, you can't even buy a decent quality chess board for $10.  If you don't want it, that's fine, but the Chessmaster series as proven to be worth better than $10.

El Cid - The Grandmaster edition is $40, but it has the following features -

Includes instruction from National Chess Champion Josh Waitzkin and Grandmaster Larry Christansen

Covers the basics of the game, as well as classic and modern opening variations and analysis of 900 famous previously played games

Database of more than 600,000 games enables you to develop and demonstrate your strategy

Training mode helps new players get started, while Ranked Play mode helps you see how you measure up

Enter one of 50 tournaments or create your own, and reproduce positions from famous matches

Internet and LAN gameplay enables you to compete with others online

Features 12 new chess variants, including Limited Shuffle, Shuffle, Giveaway, Marseilles, Progressive and Pocket Knight

What this XBLA game includes (other than single and mutiplayer) is anyone's guess.

And guess what? If I buy a disc in the store, I can play it at any time. If I purchase on Live, I could end up only having access only while connected to Live.

Chessmaster 9000 is only $10 for the PC...but it is almost 2 years old.

The bottom line is, this is still just a chess game. If I want to play local I will use my nice ivory set....and if I want to play a computer I'll play a game I downloaded free. I'll keep my $10 and avoid the potemtial DRM problem.
