Or if it is then there is some programming error somewhere else:

I have 13GB free showing on my 360 - only 1 or 2 videos and all demos are deleted after I try them out. I got that error when trying to download the Shaun Alexander - Madden 07 video. MS already has a cut-down version of "Storage Migrator" in their server operating systems; so there could be a two-pronged attack on the issue...
YES - there could be a HDD upgrade and YES - that would cost several bucks and would likely annoy a large portion of the userbase but what about...
Microsoft want to OWN your living room - and having run Vista Beta2 for about 6 weeks now I can say that they SHOULD - it's a joy to use and is much faster working with external or network connected hardware than XP. So for those users who subscribe to this ideal (e.g, have "Media Center" edition or in the future run "Vista") why not offer a dash upgrade with MCE / Vista extension so that as the hard-disk fills, the XBOX will actively "Push" infrequently accessed content accross the network to a registered PC on which storage is much more readily available?
They could employ a system like the one on "Sky+" where you can nominate some content to "Keep" which will stay on the 360s local HDD otherwise the system is free to archive off to remote storage like an HSM system; then if you try to access archived data the 360 will let you know that it is retrieving it from remote to local storage for use with a delay.
This would leverage the user's investment in hardware and software, and Microsoft's expertise in storage management, AND give another layer of integration into the digital home infrastructure.
Offering this facility for "Free" might also act as a lost leader for MS - rather than to buy that 50" plasma you had been saving for this month; put it off and buy yourself a new machine to run Vista or MCE on instead... Win / win for all involved.

What do you reckon, Major? We know that Microsoft are able to pull on a lot of expertise from various dev. teams and that they can leverage their licensed IP from group to group - anyone else think this could work? Could point to an excellent method of storage integration; and offer virtually unlimited capacity for NO extra cost to the digitally inclined...

I think with all the content available on live right now the community really needs a much larger hard disk if we want to keep enjoying the content on live.

after 10gb HD, it will be full after about 6 months of constant download...

then people will say they'll need 50 gb HD....6 months after, it's filled again...

then people will say they'll need 150 gb HD....

and it keeps going and going and going and going....

some people likes to keep the movies and music in their HD....myself I use my iPod to play music so i don't have single music....mostly movies, trailers and demo which i delete after either the game/movie release or just when i get tired of it....

i don't know why people keep the demos when they have full version as well....

re: What is error code 80070003 ?

so whats your point jake33? that the hole point of a hdd is so we dont have to dl it again from mp? why couldn't you just say that??

I have 12GB on my hard drive, yet sometimes cannot download themes or trailers and I get that error code.

For anyone that does get the error code, the work around is this:

- Goto the demo/trailer/whatever on marketplace you want to download

- Select Download Now and the status should goto 1%.

This is where it normally times out for me and errors.

- If you wait about 10 seconds, then hit 'Cancel Download', then go back to the Marketplace and select 'Download Again' it should get past the 1% and download OK.

As I said, I have had this issue with downloading tiny files so it cannot be a capacity issue.

re: What is error code 80070003 ?

Yep, that has just worked for me. Damn the Deadrising demo is big.

Anyone who buys FFXI, that's another 5GB, down to 7GB. It really doesn't too much to fill that with demos and trailers, especially post-E3 where there has been a huge amount of decent content.

We can beat about the bush all we want, but the bottom line is that we're already seeing a lot of users filling up their HDD's, and they're not even hording - just normal downloading. This is going to become a bigger problem as more content is put on the marketplace and more people will fill their drives?

'Just delete stuff!' people say? That's ignoring the core problem that the HDD size doesn't reflect the content going onto the ever-expanding Marketplace.

re: What is error code 80070003 ?

They need to release a 50 to 100 gig hard drive, if possible for a reasonable price, and let us download full games at home!!
