You guys whining, get over it. It's free for the first 48 hours, if you can't get it during that time, buy it like every other arcade game.

At least the option is there to get it free. Sometimes I pity how Major has to put up with the constant complaining.

re: News: 'Texas Hold 'em' update

Yey. You know, they're a multi-billion dollar company, I find it hard to believe they can't afford to give away one lousy $10 game to every XBL subscriber every so often; in fact, when was the last time they gave us a free game? Uh, never unless you count Hexic HD, but I don't think Core users got Hexic. You'd think after they've managed 20 million XBL Marketplace downloads (or whatever it is), they could afford to be a little charitable and give out Texas Hold 'em for free. In any case, they first mentioned it was going to be free. Is it my fault that their sponsorship deal fell through? No. Did they TRY to keep me informed and hint that it would possibly cost us? No. Did they miss release dates and not say a word why? Yes. Did Greg Canessa open his big fat mouth that after 5-6 months, we'd have to pay for Texas Hold 'em? Yes. Now, I find it funny how when they first announce a game, they mention it is going to be free, 5-6 months after no warning, they mention it'll cost us. OMGWTF!??! I still don't understand why people can't wake up from the trance Microsoft has on them. Can't all you mindless drones understand that Microsoft pulled the old bait and switch on you!? I think the Joystiq interview with Greg Canessa was ALL planned. You see, he mentioned in the interview that Texas Hold 'em was going to cost us and then MS announced Texas Hold 'em is going to be free for the first 48 hours. Now people who are kissing Microsoft's butt and saying how generous they are for offering it free at all. You suckers fell right for that, hook, line, and sinker!!! You're as dumb as the fools who mindlessly support EA and their monopoly scheme! I love my 360, but Microsoft needs to take some classes in morals and principles. If Microsoft had no intention of releasing the game for free on their part, they shouldn't have kept the whole idea going. I love how they wait until July to announce there will be a price. I wonder if XNA Express will truly be free??? Perhaps Microsoft can pull the bait and switch again and the mindless droves will eat it up again. You know what, I can't blame them. If the consumer is going to allow Microsoft to rape them, I can't really blame them...

Wow...YOUR AN IDIOT! Bait and switch? Do you even know what that means? MORON! If you get it for free within the first 48 hours what difference does that make..YOU STILL GET IT FOR FREE. I guess I'm just bought into Microsoft's "evil" plan. I'm ok with tha..I'll get Hold em for free under their "evil" plan..lol. As for the people with broken 360's...I understand your pain. As for the people on vacation...tough ***...you can afford to go to Maui...you can afford 8 dollars or whatever for the game.

re: News: 'Texas Hold 'em' update

Honestly people. Bloody moaners.

"but I'm away and can't get it"
This just in: no one cares what you think. Multinational organizations don’t have to fit their plans around your personal time-table.

re: News: 'Texas Hold 'em' update

You forgot to mention that Arcade games and DLC require time and money to create, and that people should stop complaining when either one costs money.

re: News: 'Texas Hold 'em' update

Huh? Why the hate? Oh, because some people don't realize business deals fall through and, shoot, things happen. My guess is, as others have guessed, that the Riverbell deal fell through. MS didn't announce anything because they had every intention of getting the sponsor and making it free...but, legal couldn't sort it out. Oh well...then when Canessa said it will cost...not said-because of legal issues, there was an internet backlash and MS decided to do what they could and give it out for free for 48 hours.

Is that bad? Good? How many people know about it? Care about it? Well, if you are here and care, well, you know, so go download it. If you are interested in the game you will likely be looking for the info and find it in time...in XBL screen adds on the console maybe, or joystiq.com or wherever, but if you are interested enough to know the game is coming, you likely knew it was free, had heard its not free, and now will find out it is free for that limited time...so, I think MS is covering themselves with the community by allowing it to be free at all.

For those people that join the community later, they likely never heard of the game/free/costing, etc story and they'll just see a standard arcade game with a trial/costing game. Who cares? They likely won't.

It's kind of a reverse of the "classic titles" or "XBOX Platinum" games coming out cheaper later, or content that costs today, but will be free in 6 months. Halo expansion packs and other games...if you want it right away, you'll pay the premium 50-60 dollar price point for a game, 5-10 for expansion content...you can wait? Then get it in a used bin, on EBay, wait till it goes "platinum" get the expansion later...

It's just economics and it's a multi-billion dollar company for a reason...you can't just give stuff away, period...you gotta make money on your investment somehow. And I don't really think Texas Hold'em is a gateway game to bring in more players to buy other games to really allow that to be free...for that, they'd need a more classic simple game of some sort... OK, end of my rant...

re: News: 'Texas Hold 'em' update

burning urethra: That's easy to say when _you_ get the game free but people in other countries don't.
