Terrible idea EA. Not that they cared about gamers anyway. ArsTechnica put up a Madden 07 review... gave it a four (out of TEN!) and I can't really argue with it. then they charge for this bullshit. I'd love alt jerseys and old stadiums, but there is no excuse for it. You'll probably have to buy 'em over again next year too!

Slap in the face to all football fans.

I don't know what that Brian guy was talking about...I am a die hard football fan, and USED to buy all the differen't versions of a football game, until EA screwed us with their exclusivity deal with the NFL. Die hard fans buy the games early or at midnight releases, never open the instruction book, and take Noobs to school...they don't buy "tutorial videos" months after release, and unless you are some kind of ultra-fan of a team, you don't care if you have thier retro stadium or not. I don't really know how to feel about the stadiums, as Dallas has had only one, except that they are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE...am I the only one who noticed how piss-poor the camera angles in the stadiums were in these games in the first place?? This kind of thing is what you are supposed to unlock by doing good in the game, not pay for-EVER.

If you want to stop dishonest companies continuing these rip offs, you have to do two things: 1) Refuse to purchase any "extra" content. 2) Do not buy unfinished games. I will be boycotting EA, and anyone else caring about the future of videogaming should do the same.

I'm perplexed also about the direction the MP is taking and how developers like EA are taking full advantage of it by bilking loyal fans out of their money for content that should have been in the game to start with when it was released. While I'm not inclined to boycott them completely, this has definitely put a sour taste in my mouth.

how many of you dooshbags complaining are die hard football fans? this content is for people who love football & madden. not for skinny rich dorks who buy every game that comes out. i know most of you are not football freaks because your talking about other games. It is days like this that seriously make me want to sell this machine. I am holding out for Halo3. I am holding out for Assassins Creed. But now I truly fear for my gaming experience when EA pulls stuff like this. And yes, before anyone says anything, MS does discourage free content; this has been brought MANY, MANY times on various podcasts from 1up, ign, et al. They have set price points and they feel free content in place of stuff they normally charge 150 points for is not good for the business model. Remember this is the company that wants to push CONSUMABLES (this never left folks, just quietly moved) and included them in the last dev kit update. But this sports stuff is just getting out of hand. You know what is next, right? Throwbacks and Classic Teams. they are coming, and all because all the Madden fanboys allowed it to happen. This is why no sports game for me is going to be worth more than twenty dollars. Even Gamestops trade in special for the 360 (trade in 2 used get a game for 9.99) restricts all 06 sports titles, PGR3, Kameo, and PDZ. Funny, they don't mind selling you the game for more than that however. WAY MORE... And yet MS wants a 60 dollar price point. I keep hearing about the rising costs of games, about how difficult it is to make a GOOD game these days, yet all I am seeing is incomplete titles. And these games ARE incomplete. What is the point of getting a game when the impression is that now the game won't be entirely complete compared to five years ago. The PS2 and XBox version don't have this crap to deal with, yet the "next-gen" crowd has too? The "Eltism" topic has been quiet for a time, but it never went away did it Peter? And you can't ignore it forever. Screw around with Halo 3. I dare you.
