I have a question about the 1080p update, that is very important to me:
Many wide screen computermonitors don´t support a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio, which means, they stretch a 16:9 image to fit the 16:10 aspect of their panel.

Now the Xbox 360 can also output 1280x768, which equals a 16:10 aspect, so it´s fine in that resolution range. In order to watch 1080p movies unstretched on a 24 inch monitor though, the 360 would have to be able to output a resolution of 1920x1200.

Will this be an option, or will it max out at 1920x1080?
Is there or will there be a chart that shows all the "new" possible resolutions somewhere?
Hope for an answer! Thanks!

re: Show #198 The one about 1080p & Family Settings

If I'm correct I can watch HD-DVD @ 720p/1080i through component. To be honest it looks the same in 1080i, I've downloaded 1080p videos from Windows Media Player on my computer and really can't tell the difference. We've seen lots of discussion around 1080p, but I'd like to ask something about the Family Controls.

It seems to me that the way they work is flawed for the typical setup where the parents and kids play on the same box (you know, living room entertainment system, etc.). I have gold account and my kids have silver. I had it setup so that they were child accounts to my account and they were limited in what they could see on Marketplace and what they could do on Live (e.g. no voice).

However, when I was signed in, I couldn't see any of the new Marketplace content I was interested in. Turns out you have to COMPLETELY TURN OFF parental controls so that I can see that! Huh? That kind of defeats the purpose completely. I don't want to disable and reenable the settings every time I check Marketplace (which is multiple times a week).
Bottom line? I disabled Parental Controls because of this extremely annoying and illogical design.

Can you explain the reasoning behind this design?

BTW, Trixie, I love your voice, don't let the trolls get you down (I know you don't anyways).

How much better a picture would you get on a PC LCD display (19" diagonal not widescreen) than from a standard DVD. Can't afford a HDTV let but plan on doing so in the future. These longer installments are always worth waiting for and are great for catching up with the latest Xbox news on the way to work. One thing though - I don't know if it's because I'm listening on a PSP, but the volume on the interviews seemed much lower than when you are 'in the studio'. Even at max volume on my PSP the slightest noise from traffic outside drowns you out. Especially on the underground. Any chance of a slightly louder recording level?

One quick question on HD DVD - as the discs are not region coded at the moment, I understand that if I buy a disc in the US today it should work find on an HD DVD add-on in the UK. However, as HD DVD discs will be region coded at some point next year, will the MS drive/360 still playback all discs or will MS be forced to issue a Dash update to lock the drive to the region of the 360? I can see why that might happen but it would be a very unpopular move.

Thoughts?
