EA are a company, their focus, as any company with shareholders, is to make money. If I invested in EA, Ubisoft et al I'd be pissed if they didn't explore these opportunity.

People have been paying for hints and cheats for a while, whether it's an action replay cart, a Prima strategy guides or spending your time on a website (yep gamefaqs don't place the adverts for free).

I say hats off to anyone who succeeds in getting my money at the end of the day it's my choice. If I don't like it I can go elsewhere.

Why? its not like they had to go and develop it post release - its on your disk. Add all the cheats you want, just don't charge for them.

people need to vote with their wallets? EA have single handedly turned this into a cliche in the past month.

people will buy this. EA weren't making money, now they are (even if only 1 in 50 buy it). More money is good for them, so they will be justified in continuing. As people have worked out, the real vote, the only vote we can cast will be not buying their entire fricking game in the first place. ONLY significant decreases in their sales figures on software will change this disgrace.

I've loved the Tiger games since the PS1. I was angry enough at paying 10 bucks more for 2006 for a third of the content of last gen. This year they still want me to pay more for less content than the last gen versions, now they want people to pay to unlock things. Microsoft points for something that is already included in the game and EA didn't spend any extra time or money making? No way.

I'm following Major's advice from the horse armour fiasco and voting with my wallet. As much as I'd love to have Tiger, they're not getting my money. No more EA games for me.

Your paying for a cheat code you stupid snot.

Do you understand that?!?!?!

All this crap was previously unlocked by a cheat code!!!!

As far as online play goes, these "unlockables" can be removed from online play easily OR like UNO, if someone has the 35th deck, I can see/use it. There are PLENTY of ways to keep this pay content from affecting online play. EA is just trying to get your $$$$$$$$ cause they think your a stupid consumer.

Why are these keys not for free? Because they know people will buy them. This is a huge win for EA they are selling you content you have on your disc. So what if you buy the fully upgraded player, does that not make it easier to get achievements? Will this not turn the achievements system into an entitlement system where you buy the achievements?

Now here is the questions,
Can you use any of these unlocked items in online play? If so then it is wrong!
Will there become a point where they make the game so hard to get a certain item that they force you to buy the content to be competitive? (How about get 18 – hole in one in a row to unlock the best courses, or pay 5 bucks now and get it and be the envy of all the other online players.)
This is not new content, it is content on the disc already.

Microsoft says they are not setting the prices or telling people how to act, they only provide the market place?
So we will see when Microsoft starts to release more 1st part games, show us a fair system, prove that you respect the community and not just try to figure out how to squeeze more money out of you loyal console customers. But I have a bad feeling about this, games like viva piñata will be used by MS to try to milk every MS point you have, I hope I am wrong?
