It's a sad day for gamers when you have to pay money to unlock features that are ALREADY IN THE GAME YOU SHELLED OUT 60 BUCKS FOR!!! I know it's getting more expensive to make games nowadays, but what does EA care? All they do is polish a few polygons here and there, change the stats and box art, and make more cash off of the latest Madden than most developers do on original titles!

Providing for a fee what is free in last-gen versions of a game is a complete rip-off. Providing for a fee what is already available to dedicated players actually playing the game and unlocking, is a complete rip-off. This is EA through and through; the McDonalds of the video-game industry. I refuse to buy EA products. Have done for a couple of years now, and i really have not regretted it. I don't want to be excited by them anymore, only to end up bitter and disappointed when said game does not live up to their marketing-juggernaut hype. And if you don't know what you're missing .... you don't know what you're missing!!! Folks, just stop buying any EA product. They'll soon learn.

Part of the reason for the crash in the early 80's was there was an indomitably large amount of cr*p being produced so consumers just stopped buying. This led to the nintendo revival and an era of better games. A crash is less likely to happen now though, and i think its because we have the internet. These days, people can get up to date news on where the good games are and easily avoid a minefield full of sub-standard fecal matter and cherry-pick the few good titles.

the fact that Burnout is my favorite franchise makes me want to cry when i hear about EA being, well, EA. i wish i could say that i would never support EA, but as long as they have the Burnout franchise, i will continue to buy the games.

This is only the beginning my friends, Microsoft is planning to follow EA's lead. Future games like Halo 3 and Gears of War, will function like a stripped down car. If you want to enjoy the full experience, you're going to have to shell out the cash to get the "extras" that should have been in the game in the first place. We can whine all we want, but EA and Microsoft both know that in the end most gamers will cough up the cash. A massive boycott will never happen and they know it.

I swear, if Gears of War and Halo 3 have this kind oc crap going on, I'm cancelling my Live account, and selling my 360. I'd rather deal with Sony's asinine, but at least TRANSPARENT behavior. Or just go back to pc gaming. Hell, the way things may go, it may be cheaper to just do that...

MS is doing the same thing with Luminies. The microtransaction system as it is currently, will be the downfall and failure of the Xbox360. I have not purchased ANY games since March and micro transactions are the reason why.

Microsoft should NEVER have let this happen. I've been a member of Live for 4 years, but this is the kind of crap that makes me question renewing my membership. Paying for in game money, and to unlock the most powerful weapons? There is no defense for that. Microsoft is letting publishers give its service a bad name. For shame, Microsoft.
