Wow, what an incredible ad. As graphics push these games more and more you get a real feel of the emotion of the character. I actually felt bad for old Marcus for a sec. Keep up the good work EPIC, and man oh man, I can't wait to play this game. Maybe Sony should watch this so they can see how it should be, Killzone anyone?

the gold thing first sounds like a plan! bit more reason to get gold rather than stick with silver. how about a small 5 or 10% Discount on all items selling on xbox live?

Just read about this two tier business and am disgusted by it. How much more do you want to rip your customers off? I have stopped buying content heavy games 'new' and am buying them pre-owned so the men in suits get none of my money.. looks like I'm going have to by all my games pre-owned now as this sort of thing makes me hate the console and the way it is run. I've never owned a playstation or ps2 but when this 360 pops.. and it will.. I'll be seriously looking at the PS3 or going back to the PC for gaming. I feel conned into not only buying a 360 but signing up to a silver account.

It doesn't seem like that great of an idea to be decreasing the appeal of the free silver membership a month before free online services from Nintendo and Sony are rolled out. Now, I'm not an MBA or anything, but this move to deny what are essentially product advertisements from a large part of the Xbox Live community seems like one of Microsoft's stupidest moves. So one of the benefits of Xbox Live Gold (which I pay for, BTW), is that I get to view advertisements before the nonpaying subscribers do? Dumb and disgraceful.

Let's NEVER see an escalation to where people are required to pay for promotional trailers and demos. That's nothing short of a grievous low blow.

But, I have no issue with Gold *before* Silver, although that fact does need to be explained clearly.

Interestingly, everyone will get to see the ad one way or another, regardless; as the description at the top of the thread states it'll be run on TV and in cinemas. As I understand it, Gold just get to see it a bit earlier...

I think the intention is good but the execution is poor. The current perks given to silver members are very attractive and personally I think should be left alone, not reduced. I'm sure some silver members became gold members because of the current perks, not because their virtual arm was twisted. I still say find "new" incentives to offer gold members to make it more atractive. Don't take away perks for silver members. it sends a bad message. You know when you walk into Costco and get a temporary pass for the day? You walk around and see all the free food samples being offered to customers. Imagine if the vendors offering the free food samples started asking you, "Umm, can I see your Costco card. These samples are for Full Members only, not temporary guests." Now that would leave a bad taste in your mouth and probaby kill any incentive to become a permanent member. -Lax

If this Silver-can-wait deal is because there is a finite amount of bandwidth and they want Gold users to have first bite on popular contant then great. I pay for gold and have done for a long time, why shouldn't I get a better service? If it's being done simply for maketing reasons then it sucks. If you say something is gonna be free then don;t change it for no reason. So which is it?

This is my first comment since getting my xbox 360 in July. I agree with the other posters regarding the caste system that is developing here. I don't have a Gold account, and don't plan to. I don't play online at all. I do, however, download many videos and demos. To have to pay for demos and videos that are being used to promote games is utterly and shamefully ridiculous! This is *advertising,* for all intents and purposes. Hobbling Silver accounts, rather than making Gold accounts more appealing is really a cheap move by MS. I hear that the GOW video will be opened up to Silver in about a week. This appears straightforward on the surface - give the paying accounts a perk. But knowing MS, sooner or later, you folks will just figure "if they fall for this, than why not just force everyone to go Gold?" Everything will be exclusive content (or nearly all) and there will be no reason for Silver accounts to exist any longer. I think that sucks. I hope not to be forced to upgrade just so I can watch a video and get some gamer pics. Utterly ridiculous...

I don't see how offering this content to paying subscribers helps Microsoft be competitive with Sony. Not when they can get the same content a week earlier when Sony debuts their system, assuming it isn't a 1st party game.
