Couldn't believe how good a first person shooter could be on a console. Oh, and who can forget system link, all night fragfests in the huge halo arena's. One word. The quality of the control pads (versus SONY 10 year old concept), downloading HD content, HD-DVD, unified processor, PRICE. The 360 is simply the best value. Period. No magazine has pointed out that PS3 shipped after the 360 and looks inferior. So those who got a 360 a year ago have enjoyed HD for a FULL year.

Once prices start dropping, and SONY is unable to match the drops, US is all 360. I was a SEGA guy, turned SONY, Turned DC, turned PS2. PS2 is a good seller without personality. Besides GTA, what whas great about it? 8,000 games without personality or killer-app. My wife actually plays 360! That is incredible!!! HDMI

On the subject, that would be a fitting birthday tribute.

I was a late adopter and didn't get my classic system and "Duke" controller until late 2003. (actually I had a Duke before I had my XBOX and used it to play Halo for PC but that was not a great experience) I finally made the switch when my gaming PC died and I got tired trying to keep it up to date. A friend of mine (Iceman183) got me to buy the XBOX and I was never discappointed. At that point there were lots of great games coming out all the time and tons of cheap titles on the bargain bin. I always could find something to play. It was also great to get started at that time because XBOX Live! was already firmly established.

I subscribed to Live! about a month after I bought my box and took my old gamer handle GhostRider and paired it with my gaming group initial The Game Attic Club and the gamertag GhostRiderTGAC was born.

I had tons of fun with titles like Ghost Recon and Spider Man and then when Halo 2 came out it seemed like that was all I played! The rest of the Game Attic Club soon made the conversion to XBOX and more recently XBOX 360 and both consoles have given us much enjoyment.

The great thing about XBOX, XBOX 360 and XBOX Live! is that they have opened me up to a global gaming community in which I have made many new friends. I also want to give extra kudos out to Larry and all the gang who supports the systems, networks and community. These people who work so hard for us really make the whole experience what it is. There is no other company out there that provides the level of product, service and communication that they do.

Happy Birthday XBOX and thank you to everyone who has made the past 5 years so great and keep it up for many years to come!

Sincerely,

I was like, THIS IS SO FREAKEN AWESOME. Commanding a actual team of actual people in actual real time. I would never look at online gaming the same again. Its stoped calling it Online gaming, I called it Live.

I never knew that Xbox would just keep giving over the years.

re: And now we are five

Ah memories.

I remember buying the original Xbox just around christmas after the boss (i.e: my wife) told me it was ok to buy one as long as I wouldn't spend $$$ upgrading my computers every few months to play games.

I remember the xbox live Beta (xbox forum will deny me the beta tag icon, sniff), the nice package with the orange Memory card (which I still have along with everything that came with the xbox live beta stage).

Playing this great RC racer game from Activision. The sense of playing online and espicially, talk to everyone since everyone had a micrphone.

Happy 5 years anniversary Xbox!
