I agree with SLI, don't knock NASCAR until you give it a try. Some might say the same about golf or curling - that its not really a sport. Go ahead and give golf or curling a try. You'll see just how hard it is.

As for the athletic part of car racing - try driving 600 miles at Lowes. Or, like Tony Stewart, try driving 500 at Indianapolis and get in a helicopter and fly to Lowes for another 600. That was a true feat of athleticism.

If only XBox would give us a NASCAR title for the 360....

Sorry but NASCAR is for red necks that drive in circles.

Nobody wants to watch that retarded crap, even the Canadians and Mexicans and whatever country has racers, don't even know that they have someone representing them in NASCAR, nor would they care. THE NBA IS BY FAR MORE WATCHED THAN NASCAR.... I MEAN CHINA EVEN HAS A BASKETBALL TEAM THAT WENT UP AGAINST THE ROCKETS AND YAO... YOU DON'T SEE THAT IN NASCAR LOL.

Someone listed all the sports that NASCAR is supposedly more popular than, when in fact those sports are by far more popular around the globe than NASCAR. Some of those sports are in the Olympics, where as NASCAR is not because it's just driving around in a circle. I give more credit to Japanese racing videos I have from the net.

Here is the #1 problem with NASCAR/Racing in particular.

The reason you hear the constant whining of:

"NASCAR is not a sport"

"Turn left, repeat".

"NASCAR drivers are not atheletes"

is simply due to these peoples complete lack of understanding of the *FACTS*. Why?

Because they cant do it themselves thats why. You can go to any store and buy a baseball, a hockey puck, football, tennis ball, basketball, golf ball, boxing gloves, you name it. And in no time your playing that sport yourself. You are physically experiencing it. And therefore can have a deep rooted appreciation and more importantly a clear understanding of the mechanics, the physical demands, strategies, and every other aspect of that particular sport.

Very few people (who are not in the buisness) can say the same for racing, and NASCAR in particular. Therefore it is easy for them to dismiss it with all of the ridiculous excuses mentioned above. And that will never change unfortunately. Those driving experiences are helping, but they certainly are much more expensive that going to your local wal-mart and picking up a basketball or whatever. I raced stock cars for two years and I can tell you from experience it is every bit as much a sport, with true atheletes, as any other. And I will go one step further to say it is much more inherently dangerous than any of the rest, combined. And when was the last time NASCAR went on strike for more money?...*NEVER*

(There was a boycott of talledega after it was completed, there was concern over tire saftey but I digress)

It's a shame the uninformed are so vocal about something they know nothing about, but its more of a shame its not easier for them to actually experience the sport for themselves. Then, and only then, will they fully understand.

By the way, anyone doubting Red Phoenix HD's claims, and say that F1 has a bigger audience, you're sadly mistaken. Formula 1 has been losing ground in the television ratings for years, only gaining some back because Michael Schumacher is retired. Nobody likes seeing one man run a series. With NASCAR, they now have racers from Australia, Canada, Columbia, Mexico and Germany racing in their 3 major series: Nextel Cup, Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series. Saying that Auto Racing isn't a sport is a cop-out, because NASCAR drivers are fit athletes. The training program now has drug testing, and often. Many drivers have appeared in men's fitness magazines, they get a ton of press time, and are almost always in the spotlight of a camera. You just don't see a Formula 1 reality TV show pop up out of the blue, but NASCAR even has that. There's 18 race weekends in the Formula 1 season; in NASCAR, there's 36 race weekends for just Nextel Cup alone, then consider the Mexico race weekend is on an NNC off-week, and the Canadian race weekend next year is as well.

For Microsoft to take this year and jump on the bandwagon of advertising in racing is just a small step to their goal: Making the Windows Live products (Windows Live OneCare was on a car earlier this year), and the Xbox brand and turning them into household names. Don't deny it.

As for EA needing to make a 360 NASCAR game, I agree, but at the same time, I just wish the exclusivity deal would end so that rFactor and other companies can jump at the gun and give us consumers some choice.

Guaranteed, for the sake of money, Bill Elliott will take the champion's provisional, if he somehow fails to qualify.

I'm not sure if this was a business decision by Burger King or Microsoft, but it's about damn time I see a console on a NASCAR. Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday! Since the Xbox is the only console on a car, I guess, that means they're already a winner.
