For those of you trying to build games on Vista, did you try installing while using compatibility mode? I'm not using this yet, but I do have Visual Studio.NET 2005 installed on my machine and working perfectly in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2, so I imagine XNA related software would work as well.

"Users will have to call their local Xbox Live support # to cancel. More info at http://www.xbox.com/support/live

Support can cancel the renewal for the users (delayed cancellation, user gets the remaining paid time) or cancel immediately and generate a prorated refund for the remaining unused time."

re: XNA launch day!

It is worth pointing out that Vista is not even released yet. You guys are getting upset over an OS that is not even out yet, and should not be used for home use , but rather for testing purposes per the Microsoft RC and Beta requirements

re: XNA launch day!

xriot: many people are fed up waiting for Vista compatibility. I full well know of the sentence you imply, as it has existed since beta 1 (with the rest of that blurb).

I asked the question simply because several people have claimed they managed to get it working in Vista. Credibility and a lack of explanation seems to differ though.

Its always slightly annoying when Microsoft products don't operate on the company's own OS. Bearing in mind they've been released and all now (both XNAGS and Vista).

First point on the Xna Game Studio Express download page (http://msdn.microsoft.com/directx/xna/gse/)

* Only supported on Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 (all editions) at this time. Windows Vista will be available only in a future beta release of XNA Game Studio Express

I would suggest doing what we do at our work and create VMWare images of the development environments. Start with a base enviroment (XP or Server 2003 + Visual Studio + all the patches), take a copy and then just create new machines from this base for different project enviroments. It works well, keeps your host machine clean and running nice, and you only need to the development stuff when you're "working" as such.

This way, if you're running Vista your host can just sit there still being vista, while you do development in an XP machine.

re: XNA launch day!

would have to be some pretty good games to make it worth getting a subscription just to play them:/
