I have an 8 month old 360 that was working perfectly before update. After this last update I can barely play any games with all of the random freezing. There are enough people on here with the same problem for it to be a coincidence.

Major doesn't comment on updates causing bricked consoles because Microsoft doesn't let him.

The Nov update bricked my 360 and Microsoft refused to admit it was the update. Now before each update I video the machine in use and working perfectly, and then do the update - hoping I'll catch an update bricking the machine on camera.

I encourage anyone with a video camera who is frustrated with Microsoft to do the same and post any bad update videos to YouTube or Google Video.

The only way Microsoft is going to listen is if people start taking these matters into the public eye.

My 360 was working perfectly until I downloaded this update. Now I'm getting random freezes which need a console reboot to fix. No red lights YET (crosses fingers). I've loved the 360 since I got it but man, their QA system sucks when it comes to updates. I wonder if flashing using a CD might fix the problem...

I've been getting unreadable disc error starting this month, is there any chance that the 'improved' unreadable disc messages are premature and erroring out before the drive gets a chance to read the disc during gameplay? I have had the 360 since launch, and haven't had any issue till last week.

I happily downloaded the update as I'd had ZERO problems in the 13 months I've owned the console.

Big mistake.

Occasionally I can boot to dashboard or to game for a few minutes, but generally I get the 3 red lights, or a lockup and green light at the startup screen. I've disconnected and reconnected everything, but no dice. This thing worked PERFECTLY immediately before the update and failed immediately after the update. Now I'm hearing that I'm going to have to PAY to get it fixed? Are you kidding me? Can you say "class action lawsuit"? I knew you could...

Major, how can you sit idly while peoples' consoles are being bricked left right and center by these updates, especially this one that addresses "performance and stability issues"? It's not getting any better. It keeps happening and you keep ignoring it. The 360 needs to be recalled. There are way more consoles being bricked than there were original Xbox power cords catching fire and those got recalled. It's like clockwork, on EVERY update you see lots of posts from angry 360 owners who don't have a 360 to play anymore.

Well, I updated this evening and it BRICKED my perfectly working 360. It had been working flawlessly for the 8 months since I've owned it. Tonight, I turned it on and it wanted to download the system update, I said ok, it downloaded, rebooted, and I got 3 red lights flashing. Talked to tech support, I have to send it in and they'll send me a refurbished one. :-(

I updated yesterday morning and by the afternoon, my screen goes into a delightful rainbow checkerboard effect with numerous beautiful dotted lines streaming vertically across my television screen. The update did something to my 360. I called support and they had me wipe out all the updates I had done and my 360 is still messed up. Since when are updates supposed to screw things up worse than they already are??!?!?!!?

I have had no problems with any update on the machine.

I also agree that it would be very difficult to cause hardware to be fried because of a software problem. I think this is happening to systems that already have a problem and the rebooting of the machine after the update was the last straw. It might even be something in the kind of reboot that gets done on an update.

since the update cant private chat with some of my friends, and wont let me join their games in gears of war. also since update have vga issues now wont fill screen, using 61 inch samsung dlp. pleas fix, i love my 360. why all the problems now, i thougt the update were to fix problems not create them.
