HD-DVD is looking worse every week, and the sales are starting to even out. It's pathetic that Universal has dropped the ball like this. I don't know how much sway Microsoft has with the HD-DVD higher-ups, but they need to have a fire lit under their ass pronto. A vague "300 titles this year" claim from HD-DVD looks like crap compared to the confirmed and dated big name films Blu-Ray has announced.

That's not a variable, that's grasping at straws. Odds are, people that bought a PS3 are people that also bought a PS2...marketshare alone would show you that. Buying Bully or FF12 doesn't count as a "PS3 game sale," sorry. Nice try though.

NO SIR, I have to disagree. The possibility of those gamers buying PS2 games, like FF 12 or Bully or any of the other great games on the system is more likely. Espesially since there was like 2 good PS3 games and the PS2 games are playable on the PS3.

You can praise the numbers, but from a direct competition standpoint, PS3 doesn't stand a chance until after developers start getting their games out there and start showing that the system is worth it.

Wii is kind of in it's own camp. You either own a PS3 and Wii, an Xbox360 and Wii, or you own all three (eventually). Wii seems to be the everybody system, and for cheap too. It just needs some classic original titles from nintendo to roll out. Zelda can't hold it afloat forever.

GOW is the best shooter to date. Although Rainbow six Vegas is really awesome and I like the cover system better. MS is off and running with games like Bio-Shock and HALO 3 coming this year; Sony has a lot of catch up to do. MS does need to drop their price and bring out the updated 360 soon though.

Thanks for reporting the numbers but ... stop taking opportunities poke your nose at the PS3. It is only obvious that the PS3 would not sell as well as 360 this year because it is new and costs a fortune. This is not an achievement, it is expected. Just like it is still expected for the PS2 to out sell everyone.

It took MS a year to have 5 high quality games (FN3, COD2, GRAW, GEARS, and Oblivion). The PS3 will probally have around the same number of quality games during their first year of production and more credibility. Making the sales much higher for next year.

Now I always wanted SONY to win this thing but I don't think that will happen because MS is going to come out with another system in another 2-3 years and SONY will not. If there is one thing MS can do, it is build a customer base.

Congratulations on the XBLive numbers and GEARS is easily the best action or FPS game to date on any console. Congrats to their team.

THIS GUY, Carmack, has been saying the same thing for ages. For at least (i think more) a year now when the early PS3 dev kits were out. This does not hurt the PS3 at all. He simply likes to talk about his opinion or at least people like to report on his opinion over and over again.

Great to hear that Gears of War is doing so well.

One of the best "pick up and play" Multiplayer games around. Perfect for that quick online gaming fill in between a busy schedule.

The new maps are fantastic a well, can't wait to see what the next map packs have installed for us.

Always good to see that the 360 is doing so well, MS have fought long and hard to tackle the gaming market and will continue to do so. Great news for gamers.

I can say I finally contributed to making GoW so profitable. I rented it when it first came out, kept it for like 2 weeks. Last night I bought it and the Racing Wheel w/ PGR3.

Love both games, unfortunately, all I have played since is PGR3. The Racing Wheel is f'ing dope! First wheel I have been able to play with when not clamped to a desk. Fits perfect on lap.

While I didnt really like MS, I dont like lots things about the ps3 expensive, low # of games, poor cpu choice for a gaming machine(very hard to optimize for, no out of order execution, better suited to an industrial application).

I saw several ps3's yesterday on ebay with games and extra controller selling for 450-500$ and probably by the same people who paid 1500$ 2 months ago. It was all media hype saying everyone wanted one. A few people did, even less could afford one.

The 360 will be the main gaming machine for several years at least, the wii for kids and people who havent or dont play often and who dont need the newest and greatest games.

Pc's might hang on for a while but you have to spend 300-500$ every year or 2 to keep your system up to date enough to play the newest games(like everyone with shader 2.0 cards who cant play games requiring sm 3, then it will shader 4 and dx 10, etc...)For the price you could buy a 360 and be set for 4-5 years.

All those stating that the reason 360 won was due to the lack of competition are missing the point. This was the plan; this was why 360 shipped a year ago. If MS had 1 million units last year, they would have sold. Remember the 360 shortages? Remember people actually making money on Ebay? If Wii didn't win, it was due to Nintendo being slow. Period. And no matter how much spin SONY gives (about the PS2), in reality the industry doesn't care about PS2 sales. Sure, its money, but it is just like buying an NES with SNES around the corner (in the 90s). Those consumer don't drive the industry. They are probably gifts for kids, that will want a Wii, 360 or PS3 next year. Microsoft won the next gen competition this year, period. It was 10 million units in a year, with a $400 price tag. Be fair.

I'm surprised that it's only at 3 billion hours of gameplay, since Bungie announced back in October that over 4 Billion matches of Halo 2 had been played online, and when you break that down into played hours that's got to come in pretty close to 3 Billion hours as it is.

Well said Rodney. Plus a PS3 would take three hours to boot it up.

I hope MS has some moves for this year because they need them to keep up the pace. The snot-nosed brats are still on about how AMAIZINGZ the PS3 is eventhough they cant afford it and havent seen anything good on it. MS needs to take the toys (exclusive games) away from those brats and move them to their own toybox (360).

Capcom, Konami.. oh I dunno, whip out the checkbook already.
