I'm on my second console. I can't customer service to give me points to rebuy my purchased arcade games because I exchanged it at a store. When this console breaks (and I know it will), I will be forced to pay the repair fees. I will then pirate enough MS software to make up for the hundereds I spent on repairs and points that I can't transfer.

So is there any chance of getting my $63 (CND) back? I sent my dead 360 off for repair about 2 weeks ago. All the person on the phone told me was to ensure I sent it UPS and get a tracking number; no mention of MS picking up the tab or sending me a box (UPS charged me $10 for packing supplies). I opted for insurance (and extra $30) because, well, because I'd hate to be out $500 if something happened to it!

Anyone tried to get reimbursement from MS?

Update for you Major, I called support again today to find out where my shipping box was and I was put through to a supervisor. She was extremely helpul and apologetic.( I was polite and cordial through the whole conversation ).

The supervisor verified my information, cancelled my Out of Warranty repair order and provided my a new reference number along with news I didn't expect - Due to your delay we will repair your 360 for free.

THANKS Microsoft, once again you reiterate my belief that as a company you want your consumers to be happy. :)

Well, my 11 month old console died last night (sad) manufacture date was Feb. 06. I called support and talked to "Irwin" hehe, who was actually quite clear and helpful.

Opened a ticket, prepaid box is on its way. So far I am happy with the customer service, tho I would rather just have a working 360.

I am on my 4th Xbox 360, I have it in a well ventilated cabinate, it almost never gets moved and I am super gentile on it, and it only gets played like 5 hours a week, yet I am on my 4th.

The Xbox Elite agents are worth crap. They tell me that this Xbox 360 is not a widespread issue, and are general jerks. I like your podcast majornelson, but I hate MS.

Great faster repair service.

Well Major, I try and be positive and supportive as in general I have had great experiences with Xbox Support and Xbox Live. Today I read this and wonder why after 19 days I still have not received my box for returning my 360 for repair. I have called twice and still nothing has arrived at my door.

I know it's a ploy to get me to buy the Elite, you don't have to worry about that I'm buying one anyway. I just need my current Xbox 360 repaired as I'm on a timeline for games that I want to complete before I immerse myself in Forza 2 for the next year and a half.

Now I'm playing with my third 360. Here, in EU, replacementis fully free but that I will prefer better quality in the hardware and less problems.

Whatever.. everyone knows you guys make money off the games and not the console.. so just make it a god damn lifetime warranty already and stop the BS.

My 3rd Xbox got the red lights of death a while ago and it's been over a year so I'm out of warranty.. but still .. 1 year .. THAT is the life expectancy of your systems??

I think when you pay 500 bucks you better get something that will work until you decide not to use it anymore .. or at the very least you will always get a new one if it screws up.

This new warranty info is still just a bunch of BS until you just stop the games and lifetime warranty the things and STAND BEHIND YOUR OWN PRODUCT!!

Joergen8: yes i did get a lifetime ban for it, all i said to a mod was, there is clearly a problem with the machine and it should be sorted i made no threats at all yet i got a lifetime, and i wasnt the only one a load of us got it on the UK forum

I'm covered by an extended warranty until 2010. With a 1 year warranty included free, and the option to extend the warranty for the lifetime of my console.

No repair costs for me! I guess thats one thing us Europeans can hold high above the Americans.

Oh, and you could have mentioned in the post that this new policy only applies to USA and Canada, as you keep reminding people, this is a world wide site.

This should have been done a long time ago.

After the horrible 3-month experience I had with my console repair, I still have my doubts that the service will actually be any better.

The customer representatives are ignorant and the processes are faulty. If it weren't for the "social engineering" that was used to trick customer reps into providing secure information, I think that nothing would have been done to improve any of this service.

Hopefully I won't have to deal with another repair on my console. I never want to experience that nightmare ever again.

UberHaxor: I just sent mine in to be repaired a couple weeks ago and mine was manufactured (and purchased) before Jan 1st 2006 and I still had to pay $140.
