vanjenko…

It’s true. The Wii pretty much has a complete Gamecube inside it. But that’s a good thing. I wish the 360 had an original Xbox inside it. But don’t believe that it’s the Gamecube 1.5. If I am correct, it has more power than the original Xbox, supports 480p widescreen (not high-def, but better than leaving half of my TV black on the sides), has 24/7 connection through a wireless receiver, and (most of all) presents an entire new way of gaming and control for a home console. Not to mention that it is not subject to the “rush the game and patch it later” or “leave content out so we can charge for it later” problems (at least, not right now).

There aren’t as many Gamcube games coming out as there once was. However, they are still coming (whether they are first-party or not). Plus, any new Gamecube game can be played on the Wii. That in itself is much more support than Microsoft has for the original Xbox.

Again, Nintendo may not be perfect, but they have treated me better than anyone else. I can get games cheaper and know that they are complete. The only reasons for the 360 are exclusives (which there aren’t that many that I care for), multiplayer (for now, anyway… though I’m not going to have Gold much longer), and graphics (which I would gladly give up for innovative gameplay). The Wii control experience is nothing short of “revolution”ary. It’s the closest thing to true “Next-Gen” we have. Graphics may be better on other systems, but it’s the same old, same old games with a new coat of paint. In fact, many sequels have become worse than the originals… and that’s a no-no. Again, I like the 360, but it’s not worth dealing with Microsoft’s penny-pinching and lack-of-choice policies… to me, anyway. I will stick with PC gaming for anything that Nintendo doesn’t offer. The games are usually better, diverse, and complete. I can have my niche gaming. Not to mention that many are moddable (Morrowind, Oblivion, Rogue Spear, etc.).

Ps. It’s too bad Microsoft bought Rare. They were a great developer for the N64… though I still am annoyed with the direction they took with Banjo-Tooie.

PPs. BraveKid, I know what you mean. I also liked Chromehounds. I just wish they would add a true cockpit view and more support for non-squadies in the campaign mode. Of course, I also like Over-G Fighters. I just wish they would make it into a much more realistic sim gameplay wise… that is, no enemies magically appearing within two miles on your tail every 30 seconds. AHHH!!!! The frustration!

re: Rainbow 6 Players Pack Red Edition (DLC)

Part 2 of 3

skullivan…

I’m afraid I don’t remember any such extreme prices for Nintendo games. It has been a while, but I do remember very well picking up a new copy of Perfect Dark for the N64 (a week or so after release) for only $30. My mind may be slipping, but I could almost swear it was $30 (because I probably wouldn’t have paid any more for it). I also remember having to pick up the extended memory pack for about the same price to play Perfect Dark to its full potential. I wasn’t too excited about that, but it was required for the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask also… so it was worth it.

As for Rainbow Six, yes… I see the need to expand the game. But to completely change the style of gameplay was absolutely unnecessary. And if you’re going to completely change the game, change the name also. But they wouldn’t do that… because the name “Rainbow Six” does in fact sell. The only reason they changed it was to mainstream it for consoles. It never should have been designed for a console… it’s not that type of game. As for Ghost Recon, they did the same thing. Why? I don’t have a clue. I do believe the original Ghost Recon has outsold any other Ghost title to date (including both GRAWs). It was Game of the Year. But they changed it anyway.

It’s true. Halo doesn’t need to change. Then again, neither did Ghost Recon. But they mainstreamed it to pick up the Halo crowd. They failed to understand that nothing is going to “out-Halo” Halo. The ONLY reason Vegas and GRAW have had the success they’ve had is because they lack competition. I highly doubt that if they re-released the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon for the 360 (updated graphics and the like), they would be any less successful (at least, if keyboard support was included). Why? Because their names sell. They always have. Unfortunately, they always will… regardless of the quality of content. Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon have always made money, but Ubisoft felt they needed to change anyway… go figure. Well, they certainly aren’t making any more money off of me. However, I am still a big fan of Red Storm, but until they are free of Ubisoft, I just can’t help them… at least not until Ubisoft gives Red Storm full control of their games again. I just hope it will be soon.

re: Rainbow 6 Players Pack Red Edition (DLC)

JESUS CHRIST ANSWER ME
