Deffinetely downloading these. It's good to see much Microsoft have embraced competitive gaming such as WCG and MLG.

Does anyone know if this MLG Season will be on TV again later this year?

Fever: Normally id go into a response mode to point out my reasons for why i believe what i believe, but for once one of you acctually had the correct responce. synide: SSBM is good to have but you need a wider base of games. if the demand isnt there then your sport isnt what it should be yet. i guess i can reserve judgement on that front until you have the "numbers" to support all forms. regardless to call a person a pro gamer would mean they are well versed in all styles. purhaps the add campaign could show a more specialized set. MLG Halo. otherwise the community looks at you and sees a pro playing one game, but being pictured as gods among gamers. Maybe its not all your fault perhaps going commercial has hurt you with some of the hardcore game fans.

What i do expect is for you to police your memebers. Not live, but your memembers. I do expect if I get ridiculued by an mlg player that i can report them to you and they can be repremanded. If Jordan came to my church b-ball team schooled them and then made an ass of himself you can bet hed be held accountable. I expect the same of any Pro circuit and its memebers. Thats the issue. The civilized memebers you have are being over shadowed by the morons.

delta222: I will respectfully disagree with you on glitching vs cheating. also define for me your jumping. to me it sounds like you are talking abbout super bounce. but not just regular use of jumping or jumping on/off someones shoulders. This brings in the game of words. jumping from point a to point B while point B is not a normally tread path is legally a part of the game if nothing is exploited out side of the avaliable game engine. If i climb on a friends back by jumping regular hight and then jump to point B, i did not trick the system in anyway to let me to point B. BXR is an exploit because it cancles a graphics render (bypasses acctually) wherein the player hits the person and then cancles the animation by hitting a new animation call but sence that annimation is not needed as the guns ammo is full then allows the next button to cancle that motion and fire the BR. Its a trick to the games engine convincing it not to take the time it is suppose to take to do something. My final point on the subject is one that Fastmode just made....

Bungie says exploits are cheats. that means you are cheating. thats all there is to it. While i see why you have done it, and some of you make valid points on why, it reamins still a cheat by the guys who coded it. But again we agree to disagree as i can see where you are coming from on it and its i guess down to how you/mlg veiw glitching.

Those people who do trick jumping ARE exploiting something! Trick Jumping exploits Map Geometry, and BXR exploits game engine. Whats the difference?

I don't know Gears enough to judge this example (although from what others say weapon slide was a good thing), but at least in Halo, I really don't get the impression the masses think BXR is "cheap". I really don't feel like it's a sports star using a new steroid; rather, it's like a basketball player learning a new type of crossover dribble no one else knows. I think of doubleshot and BXR as skills or techniques rather than "glitches".

Exactly! If cheating means that you are gaining and unfair advantage, then these "glitches" don't fit that description! MLG bans the things they consider this form of cheating and unfairness. Like synide said, these particular exploits actually ENHANCE the game. If they had been included by Bungie it woulda been even better. Just as there was the YY quick reload in Halo 2, Gears includes this feature out-of-the-box, maybe even BECAUSE they saw how sucessful it was in Halo.

I feel Synide answered the rest of your questions.

No disrespect for you - although I disagree with you, you're one of the few disbelievers I've come across who doesn't seem like a total moron. Thanks for the discussion.

Don't buy it if you have a problem with it.

I have played in some tournaments for MLG and see no problem with it. All the people i have met are very nice and considerate.

I think the video is a good idea but the pic pack may not go a long way.

How Does MLG Allow Glitches. Who Is it that sits in Parties All day Super Jumping and Sword Glitching. MM Nubs. MLG Doesn't Allow that. They allow Button Combinations, That Any body can pic up a control and do. So You guys crying about MLG letting Button Combinations Be Legal. Is Pathetic. When you Hypocrites Sit there and Super bounce and Sword Glitch all day in parties by yourself. Kys

I like how the MLG guys saying "Hrey don't base the whole community on a couple mouthy jerks!" are usually the biggest mouthy jerks.

MLG is bad for Live. Period. Great for LANS , great for tournaments. Great to watch on TV or videos. Cool. They are bad for Live, especially Halo. The Bungie community was overun with these jerks, who are arguing with THE CREATORS OF THE GAME that they are not cheating when THE CREATORS OF TEH GAME are telling you , that YES, you ARE cheating.

It's hubris to the Nth degree and it's tiring and annoying. I'm all for private gorups and tourneys and pro gaming, but STFU.

you could not be further from the truth. the gitches enhance the game on a competitive level, they have nothing to do w/ what is on tv. Halo 2 would be much more boring and less skill-based without doubleshot/bxr. Gears of War is now much more boring and less skill based now that they have removed the weapon slide. This is all opinion, there are different ways to play any game, and ours does not throw out glitches just because they weren't meant to be, especially when they greatly enhance the skill factor of the game.

If you read a little more into the site, you'll see that MLG currently runs SSBM, and has for the last 3 years. MLG also ran games like soul calibur, gran turismo, and tony hawk. All of those games had lackluster turnout therefore had to be cut. There has not been nearly the level of competitive community within racers and fighters in quite some time now, however you will find that over 50 games are played online via gamebattles. Only the very top ones end up making TV.

Shaggy, even if us MLG'ers were to play without using the glitches we would still win. Back when MLG had their first H2 tourneys Walshy, the Orges Twins, McGavin, Zyos, Vash, Gandhi, Defy, Sayian, Tupac, Toxin, T Squared, were already way above the pack. And that was before the very first update when the BRs rate of fire was spurratic(SP?), and the grenades didn't have the splash damage they have now.

And do you know that the majority of the Halo 2 players who are very good, and who have money actually adjust to the MLG style of play to play customs because they are sick and tired of people cheating in matchmaking, and they are sick of people bridging(Even though that was somewhat fixed with the last update).

Check it Shaggy, please attend an MLG event if there is one within distance of you just so you can see how things are and see how much fun everyone actually has at the MLG events. I have been to 9 MLG events since their very first season and I have had a blast at each one. Just please check us out in person bro before you judge us.

The fact isnt if bungie intended the path to be found or not. bungie is usually the first to congradulate the community in general for doing something they never thought of doing. but bxr bxb and super bounce have gone on record as exploits of the games physics engine. they arent fixable because bungie doesnt want to create a new physics engine for halo 2, they did that for halo 3.

How are weapon techniques like BXR or Doubleshot any different than figuring out a cool jump around a map? Many of the jumps people have been able to figure out were clearly not originally intendend by Bungie, and they are just people being experimental with a game to find new and useful tricks. Skills like the doubleshot are very similar: although not originally built into the game by Bungie, they are perfectly possible within the realm of the game they sold us. MLG is selective about the techniques they allow, and makes sure they ban only the techniques that actually break the game. The fact that MLG bans any of these "glitches" means that they limit the "cheating" more than Bungie's game does on its own.

Its really unfortunate that so many people have had bad experiences with people who are at least pretending to be MLG community members. These people make it worse for everyone. But, the people who truly do represent MLG, both officially (Pro players and staff) and unofficialls (legitimately active members and event attendees) are almost all really great people. I hope you all have better encounters in the future.
