They go to all this trouble of releasing an update for for a wireless guitar.. I think not.. the smart thing is make the xbox pull down the wireless guitar update when you insert the game.. microsoft is upto something

If you're having the problem with the update not downloading (stalling at about 80% and giving the test connection issue), try maintenance mode on the HDD. It wipes the system cache, so you lose the game updates, but it worked for me. System tab, memory devices, go to the HDD and press Y. In the menu with format, and the like, press X,X, LB, RB, X, X. Select yes, restart the system. Worked for me, and worth a shot over reformatting or waiting on the call center to answer.

How about a DRM update for when you are stuck moving XBLA games and other content from 1 HDD to another or when you have your system replaced due to the 3 red light error so you dont have to wait for MS to refund SOME of your points for the games you bought. hmmmmmm good idea huh?

arge why do we have to play for gold in the first place they get loads of money for the stuff on the market place why not let it be free to play the games online hell for mmorpgs on the 360 u still have to pay for gold so on top of 7.99 14.99

@Ryan: Lucky you...and I really mean that. I was in your same shoes until this last update. I guess I kinda felt the same way you did until it happened to me. I can't recover my gamertag after thinking that was the problem for me not being able to log-in to live, I deleted it and still didn't work. Formatted my hd, unfortunately, now I have a clean 360 that I can't get my gamertag on OR create a new one. Connection tests out fine too...hmm.

Was there not something on there for opening the DVD tray?

It came up after the update where the name of the game usually appears on the dash.

I had to select "open tray" then "close tray" before my game would start!!

where is the statement fromM$ on the problems they are having and what they are doing to fix it. i should not have to pay for them breaking my system. i see the they already went through one lawsuit. i guess another one is coming. and since i am in the military anything i want legally is free. so no out of the pocket expense tto fight M$. so get it together or give us away to undo wha tyou have done.

WTF!?!?!? I just got home and turned on my console, Log into xbox live and it asked for me to update. So I except and as soon as its done it shuts off my system. I go to turn it back on and all I get is 3 red lights flashing on the power button! :"( I don't think I am under warranty... Anyone know if there has been a release about this update breaking systems? And what we can do to get our consoles fixed/replaced?

What a bunch of crud! I tossed an HD-DVD in the drive and before the movie started, it said that there was an update, so I updated. Little did I know that everything was going to update perfectly and that I wouldn't have any problems. Believe me, I don't want to complain, but I feel I must. Nothing ever goes wrong with my system and I'm beginning to feel left out. We have a 360 system at work that has played more hours of GHII than can be considered typical, and it now harbors some video display glitch problem, but out of all my friends and family, I don't know of anyone else who's had problems. I guess we'll have to send that system in for servicing, if only there was some new website... Alright, I know for those of you who are having problems, you must be frustrated and my farce probably doesn't help. The reality is that for an overwhelming majority they don't have any problems and you'll never hear from them. We use an LCD monitor at work, and really could use a 1050p resolution, but I don't have a lot to complain about otherwise. Is this only a wireless guitar controler update? I see no reason to believe otherwise. Assume that you already have GHII and you buy a standalone wireless guitar, where would you get your update? Pushing it out in a dashboard update makes perfect sense. Perhaps it is a little premature, but for final Q&A to make test passes with production hardware, perhaps this did need to be released today. I would have expected this release to be included in the biannual release (which by the way is an ambiguous term in the English lexicon as it can either mean twice a year or every two years), but I suppose that release is too far off still and waiting would impact Q&A (I'm a software test engineer by profession, so I view my world through testers eyes). Anyway, in summary, things work fine for me, I know of one excessively used console that's exhibited overheating problems (we're sending it off for repairs), and I would like to see the 1680x1050 resolution so we can actually take advantage of the higher screen resolution capability of our widescreen monitor instead of piping it in through the composite video port.

Anyways why update your system through live so that your wireless guitar will work? Wont the game come with a software disk so that it will work on your xbox? Im just thinking of the people who cant get xbox live and want to buy the wireless guitar thats all.

So after sitting the x360 sit powered off for a short while it is working...sort of. I haven't done more than turn it on and let it set and I'm still getting gfx/color-depth glitches on the Dashboard (They also happen in-game) so...something is really messed up with this update. Hopefully there will be a fix and official info from M$ on what this update really does/did, other than break x360s that is.
