Two questions:

1.) What are the new Band of Bugs achievements and how many points are they?

2.) Are Carcassonne's new river tiles added to those packaged with the game or will we need to choose between "River enabled" and "River II enabled"?

The price on the Carcassonne update is total BS. I was thinking about buying this game, but if MS has to nickel and dime everything, forget it. Probably won't be long before they try to get us to by randomly packaged updates so we have to buy several of each to get the whole set. I was once excited about the prospects of Talisman coming to XBLA but I can now see that it will probably be a very striped down game with mucho expansions. Just sell me something right up front so I can decide if I want to buy it or not. Stop baiting me with a cheap game and over-priced expansions. And don't say "I don't have to buy the expansions." You know (and MS knows) that if I want to play online that I am stuck.

The whole thing boils down to Microsoft's attitude. Whenver people want something fixed, or changed, Major Nelson has someone come on telling us how it isn't important or how it doesn't affect many people. Remember when he had, I think it was, Albert come on telling us how the DLC problem when replacing your XBox 360 (due to warranty issues or otherwie) wasn't that big of a deal because it didn't affect that many people? That is how Microsoft discounts issues. They publicly state that is isn't an issue because it doesn't affect that many people. The very same thing happened when they integrated Windows Live Messenger on the XBox 360. People that signed up when they were minors but have since turned 18 STILL can't use the feature. Again Major Nelson had someone come on his blogcast saying it wasn't a big deal and it didn't affect that many people. The only thing we got out of either the DLC or Messenger issue was that they are "looking into the issue" - Well, how many months ago has that been? Their statement of "we're looking into it" really means "it isn't important as it doesn't affect many people".

If it means nothing, then they wouldn't be adding it in the first place. Why are they adding it then? Because people are wanting it? Well, guess what, people were wanting it (myself included) at launch but we were continously told that it wasn't necessary. Why are they including it now? The argument that "people want it" is invalid because people wanted it early on as well but our wants were discounted as not necessary. Major Nelson even had an interview with one of the hardware guys about it telling us how HDMI wasn't needed, even though people wanted it.

I also concur on the HDMI argument. I had a launch day Xbox 360 Premium with component cables. My TV could do 1080p and the only difference is that the color was better with the component (and that was even through a component switch!). I did change the display settings on the Elite 360 to get HDMI to look less washed out and it improves the look. But HDMI, even after the setting change looks only AS GOOD AS component.

Now, the only real reason you would want HDMI would be if you have the HD DVD add on and want to get 1080p OR you want to upscale your DVDs.

So, how does that compare to component? Well the upscaled DVD's don't look as good as my regular progressive DVD player I have and 1080p movies look EXACTLY like 1080i movies.

So, once again, the HDMI means nothing to 360 owners old or new, other than a marketing line item to compete with the PS3.

So is there a big difference, visually, between an 1080p signal outsourced from component cables and HDMI ones to a 46" screen?

The majority of the rule-set for Carcassonne were already written the first time around. This update only ads some new graphics and additional rules. Regardless of the cost of the physical set, there's no way this slight update is worth $3.75.

And who's buying the Soltrio add-ons? You've already spent more for that than most all-in-one PC card games cost.

As for HDMI, I'm not heartbroken about it. My lone DVI port's already in use by the PS3 I picked up after my four previous 360s spent over four months at the servce center and Microsoft stole almost $200 worth of XBLM content from me in the process. (No, re-downloading it does not work as Microsoft claimed when they refused to provide Points to repurchase the content *again*)

Man, these guys must be making a killing off all the DLC for Carcassonne and Solitaire.

And Major, since I have a 1,2938-year warranty on my 360 (including the recently announced 3-year warranty with purchase), if my 360 breaks down sometime down the line will you guys send me a standard 360 like I own now (without the HDMI), or will it be one of these HDMI-enabled systems?

Also Major, check out Mario Strikers Charged on your Wii. You and your family will get a kick out of the game, even if you're not a soccer fan. :)

Probably snag the Carcassonne tiles. Someone mentioned Carcassonne needs a random starting order and preferred color choice, I absolutely agree. Really wouldn't mind seeing a patch or update or content for CATAN, actually, which has been out for longer and has a number of niggling issues like: 1) connection issues - I know I can't host games with the two (XBL-approved) routers between my xbox and the connection without people getting dropped, but I don't have any options to host or join... 2) need a ranked loss for quitters. If that's already the case, it needs to be clearly displayed on the confirmation screen when someone quits. Need to update the help to be clear that ranked wins still count unless all the other players have been replaced by AI. 3) the glitchiness of some achievements (didn't affect me, but others have complained) 4) the absurdly small font 5) the use of "player 1", "player 2" on some screens instead of the gamertags (when AI players occupy the slots, their names are shown)

Why do people like me who bought the 360 when it came out or close to when it came out get screwed over with new features added etc etc. The intelligent thing to do is to award the people who bought the console and suported it from the start. Even thought HDMI does NOTHING thats not the point.

I don't mind later versions of consoles coming out with more and such. My big gripe is that if I wanted to switch to one of these all my DC content would not work offline. So, because I bought the system at launch, and I'm probably one of your best customers, I can't get the newest version without losing functionality on the machine. There needs to be a way to sort out the drm mess so that people who have supported the console from day 1 have a way of buying the newest version, without screwing themselves over in the process. I wonder how any of you are able to look your customers in the eye and say we actually listen to what you are saying...
