Microsoft has bigger problems than a company wanting to put there own cash up for there games , PS3 is putting

it on the table with the latest price drop,"$399.00" in 2 weeks , with Wii still selling well , will MS finally drop the premium to match the Wii and take them head on and leave PS3 in the dust or will they try to walking on dollars to find another dime. Even though seems Bungie leaving seems bad ,this console race could be settled before the holiday season is over.

I for one would hope Microsoft learns from this.

Also, don't even think about launching the next Xbox until at least 2011.

And now some other company is making Halo?"

Um... if you actually READ the article, you'd know that Bungie will still develop future Halo games and primarily focus on MS platforms.

Yeah that's one way to look at it I guess. Seriously, now that Bungie isn't 1st party anymore, how does future 1st Part MS begin look? Ugh. And now some other company is making Halo? That's like listening to a Beatles cover band.

:P PS3 is starting to look a lot better now.

re: Bungie / Microsoft: relationship evolved

This is a non-event. It was the only thing that COULD have been done to limit the damage. Read between the lines, folks. Bungie couldn't stand MS meddling in every aspect of development (as MS should, since it OWNED them), so Bungie upper management probably threatened MS with a mass exodus. MS knew it couldn't lose the braintrust that created it's biggest CASH COW, so it capitulated. "Go, be free...but we still want part-ownership and keep Halo, and first dibs on anything else you come up with in the future." And Bungie said, "Okay."

Like I said, the least painful parting possible. It shows MS is NOT a complete fool as a company. Development funds will probably be tighter, but if MS like what is coming out, do you really think they won't devote funds to helping Bungie get titles out?

And Halo? MS is smart enough not to let it get too soft and fat - they have access to many cutting-edge dev houses who would whip up something tasty with Halo , given half a chance.

Overall, this is a good move for all involved.

I'd expect the first Bungie Wii game by late next year, but like i said above, PS3 owners will have to likely hold their collective breaths til Kingdom Come before any PS3 game with Bungie's name on the box is a reality.

Bad on Microsoft for creating the situation where Bungie would want to leave.

Good for Bungie for doing what they do, and for the freedom to continue doing so.
