NOTE: I use XP SP2, WMP11 or ZUNE, and I stream videos over my computer to X360. (Ports oppened and all working fine).

You guys know that media center extender and the dashboard are two completely diferent products right?

Heck, the new Mces dont even come out until next year and you guys are demanding a mce update now...

Relax guys, theres a new brand of mces coming next year and most likely 360 will have a update aswell...

Great news on divx support and hopefully it'll get to the stage where the 360 can stream all of the formats out there. What i don't understand is why media center extender playback doesn't play back x264 or divx. The recorded tv function is so incredibly easy to use, you just have to press the green button go to recorded tv, even my technologically inept grandmother can use it. While just a minor hassle for myself its ridiculous to explain that there's two video sections which you use for different types of files (i think the media blade doesn't play mpeg-2 for instance). Also the user interface within media centre is more attractive imo (has thumbnails etc) and just easier to navigate in general. I hope someone is working on the inconsistencies between playback formats because media centre is a great product.

@ crystalhawk the video tab is right above the media center tab..(i understand you can just push the button.. but if my mom and 3 yr old daughter can figure this out to watch wiggles... i would hope anyone else could...) also what you want and what is currently the reality.. are two seperate things. i was simply letting people know that there is a working alternative. also while adding the codec support directly(not through mce) there is no legal issues.. as it is a hardware/backend upgrade unlike stating that the mce supports divx... give it some time.. i am sure micro$oft will buy divx sooner or l8r. i am certain you will see an update before long... in the mean time.. it still works.. enjoy. and that you xbox team.. this will save me TONS of time from converting all my shows.... (now why could'nt you have done the update Before heroes tommorow?) ;-)

The reason we want the codec support in Media Center is to make a seamless experience.

I don't want to, nor do I want to have to explain to people they have to exit Media Center, go through the dashboard (an entirely different interface) to the Media blade, select Video, from Computer, then scroll through folders and video (without thumbnails) to find a video.

In Media Center, hitting the Media Center button, going to Videos and hitting OK, all from an interface that is all and only about Media is ALOT easier.

For me and my family, Media Center is about watching, recording & playing back Live TV, watching Videos, listening to Music and looking at Photos - all from one interface.

Xbox 360, while great, is about so many more things than just movies, music and pictures, and people that just want to watch TV or movies shouldn't have to get distracted.

Media Center is just easier to use for what it does.

The arcade trial games/demo's problem is that we want to delete the old trials because we don't want them in the list, even after the update. In your blogcast you telling us that every trial arcade demo will not be removed, but they will be not added after the update why.. i don't want them there because i will not buy them.. so for me they can be removed until i buy them..

Excellent, as well as finding out the video specs for the Xbox 360 so I can make some Xbox 360 HD quality videos as most people like to view my videos with. It's also good to see that they finally added the DivX codec to the Xbox 360. Nice Major, very nice.

There still some things missing.

-VGA 16:10.

-Forward/Rewind on music played through Xbox Guide.

-Ability to deleted ANY played games including Gamerscore.

-Ability to download Podcasts from the Marketplace.

The only thing on this update I like is the decoding of MPEG-4 Part 2.

i was looking more forward to the clan update. and considering i bought a elite a few months ago after selling my premium i expected would have had the video service before this. it's true what someone said we pay for live why should we get ignored when we say the features that we want. ps3 owners geth the service for free and they have the features that we want

Anon 124: in regards to the video link you posted, that is probably not a fake video. The browser seemed to be used in media center extender, and this is possible as applications have been made that could use this as a gateway to the 360 in the past (a NES emulator comes to mind)
