well this kinder has to do with it. my halo 3 matchmaking has not worked from day 1 and ea games. but is okish because i love my 360 and cod4 works (best game ever)

Microsoft apparently cares about Silver members. These are people that have bought an XBox, are buying games, are probably buying other content, but for whatever reason just don't want to, or are unable to, purchase a gold account. These are people that are putting money into the XBox/XBox Live division so that it can be returned to all of us in the form of better games, hardware, accessories, support, etc.

We can be as high-and-mighty as we'd like to be with our special gold accounts and spit on silver members all we want, but it doesn't change the fact that all of us have chosen XBox as a system we want to play on, and every person that does is helping the whole system get better... despite the occasional wrinkle (even as large a one as this current mess is).

So who cares about silver members? The people that matter. Microsoft. They apparently understand that these users are contributing as well, even if you and others that cry about gold members not getting special privileges don't. I pay $60 a year because I like to play with friends online, not because I think that it makes me some kind of member in a special exclusive club that allows me to be a tit... I would hope that most others would feel the same way.

Yeah but when will cod 4 be playable online, having a huge headache yesterday with trying to join games.

In the end i settled for some Assassins Creed gameage.

Who cares about silver members ?

they aren't hosting/playing ANY games on live, or expanding the multiplayer community .

i bet their is less than 700 K active paying GOLD subscriptions open.

I'm more suprised that there's 7.7 mil with a 360 that don't use XBL at all.

I've had to make lots of accounts. This one was my first. Then I made one for the US,Japan and Europe but they're useless since all I get is a screen saying "This item is not available in your area" now. Had to make one when my gamercard got corrupted. Made one to get the Crackdown demo,one get updated rosters in Madden 07,one for updated rosters in NHL 07 and one for the Bullet Witch costumes.

10 million paying money for stuff that doesnt work. And all we get is a crappy XBLA game. Say 1% have been worth playing. To all you dumb brown noses out there. Dont you get that Major Nelson is not a one man show, its a face for a big customer/PR department playing your psycology of feeling pity for poor ol nelson. You can be forgiving to a shop owner, a 1-3 man show, but not a huge monopolic giant like this. Stop buying their crap. We´ve seen you lack any sort of soul after this holiday fiasko.

Fortunately, I haven't been affected at all by the XBL bug...my games work properly. I'm glad that most of XBL is mature and able to handle the small service outage...and that not all of the 10 million members whine repeatedly like some of the people in the comments. So...look at it this way: the arcade download costs about 5-8 dollars..which is more than enough reimbursement to cover the cost of a month of wonky service. 50/12 = ~8:50

Quit complaining...the ZOC knows that portions of XBL aren't up to speed, and are dispatching people of top measure to repair it. Heck, even E has lost sleep over this "outage" (or "service availiability issue"). Suck it up and be patient, this is the first major problem that XBL has had in over 5 years. This fall update was also one of the largest changes the service has had in over 5 years. Bottom line: there are bound to be glitches. Whining about it repeatedly in the comments of the Community director's blog will simply annoy the others in the community. I mean, 5-7 seperate posts from the same user with the same comment? Its like E's motto..."we know." Give it up for these guys...they're out there busting hump to get you a service that's somewhat reliable...and this is how some thank them..by complaining and whining because they can't rank up in cod4? At least you can use XBL... For THAT we should thank these guys.

Thank you MajorNelson for providing this outlet to the community, and let the folks in the ZOC and Server Operations know that at least some of the community from the blogcast knows what they're going through. I'm a very happy member of XBL for over 5 years and have to say that this is a great service.
