For those on the perpetual "please wait a little longer while we pretend that we're transferring your licenses" merry-go-round, contact your state's Attorney General's office and file a formal complaint. The BBB *used* to be an option, but Microsoft, as a BBB subscriber, doesn't even pretend like it's going to comply with BBB recommendations.

When you purchase something on Live, your Live ID and your 360's Serial Number are embedded into the DRM license. When you register a new 360 Serial Number, they could just modify the DRM license on their servers. You would have to re-download the content on the new system, but it WOULD work and it would be 100% effective.

It's one thing if your original 360 is still "out in the wild" - because you could just sell it with all your DRM content on it then re-download on a new system and there would be two copies floating around out there. On a system that's sent in defective and replaced, there is NO excuse for the DRM licenses not being modified on MS servers in this way.

Ok so Microsoft says they are working on the problem. That's fine, as long as they credit you for ALL the points you spent on the now unusable DRM content AND revoke the licenses on the old purchased items so you can re-purchase them. It's a pain, but it would work.

To do less than this is making DRM based purchases extremely unattractive and Microsoft needs to take it on the chin since they're really the market leader on DRM distribution and need to pave the way for this distribution model to work. Even if there are license restrictions they are trying to follow with the IP owners, this could easily be considered a "failed purchase" since the buyer cannot download the DOWNLOADABLE content and use it, so a refund is clearly in order if the DRM problem can't be resolved immediately.

re: Xbox Originals: Burnout 3: Takedown

Oh, hang on. Where'd you get the Fantasia gamer pic?

What about Burnout 4? I miss Road Rage.

Yes, I have it for the Xbox 1; yes, I know there's a 360 version; no, I don't want to re-buy it; no, it wouldn't be the only Xbox 1 game that was compatible even though there's a 360 version (witness Lego Star Wars 2).

Also I notice more negative comments on the DRM issue, the Wii also has similar issues but I think with the 360's high failure rate obvioulsy it's a big problem. MS has to give in and relax the DRM, perhaps like PSN where you can share a game on 5 accounts before you have to rebuy or link them to a GT and ask for the credit card details and passwords before allowing a redownload.

I REALLY WANT THIS! O well.. goin to the store tomaro!

re: Xbox Originals: Burnout 3: Takedown

I'm disappointed about the XBox Live service... but I'm even MORE disappointed about the fact that none of my live arcade games (or any marketplace content for that matter) are usable. I'm on my third XBox 360, and the last time they had to replace it, I lost access to all of the games I had purchased on the 2nd 360. DRM for the loss... :(

Before you "buy" burnout 3 (or any other marketplace content) be sure you know what you are getting into. If your console red rings (highly likely) you can't play what you bought any more.

So... I haven't had access to my purchased content for 4 mounths so far! Microsoft is still saying, just wait, we're fixing it but we can't give you any microsoft points either, which is what we used to do. So I've been stuck with somewhere between $150 and $200 worth of content that I can only access while on live (when it works) and my kids can't access at ALL! This is content that I legally purchased and own. I'm no longer buying marketplace content due to this issue... but I'd still like to access the content I already paid for. When I bought it I didn't realize that I could only use it until my Xbox broke. Since that happens on a fairly regular basis... I am essentially paying to RENT the content, not actually buying it.

Now... granted it's probably my fault for not reading the EULA, but since Microsoft could care less about helping me, has anyone else had any success in getting content re-licensed that they have paid for?

I've been a huge supporter of the 360 since the launch, but this really has me rethinking things. As far as the networking issues with Live go, I understand that these things happen. I expect it will be fixed shortly. However, waiting 4 months (and counting) for MS to get off their rear ends and deem me worthy to access content I already paid for is absolutely unacceptable.

re: Xbox Originals: Burnout 3: Takedown

Well with free gamerpics and themes gone there goes the only thing I cared about with these. Was really hoping for some Ninja Gaiden gamerpics down the road since that is sure to show up as an Xbox original I would assume.

So now back to complaining that I still own 80 original Xbox games that are not BC =P
